Welcome !
Mama Kazi” means “Working Woman”
Ugandan army wives have partnered under this name to produce handmade eco-friendly products which currently includes jewelry, accessories and handmade décor. These women are mostly ‘stay at home mums’ who spend their days taking care of the family while their husbands serve with the military both internally and abroad. These women depend solely on their husbands’ salaries to provide for all the family needs. The income of their men folk is never sufficient to cover these needs making it inevitable for the women to earn some money too.
As army wives, we believe that we are called to be women who:
- Can be counted on by our husbands to not shrink from being that vital support that they need at all times. Women who are dedicated to promote them and not hinder them.
- Are industrious and hardworking. Able to help in the cause of ensuring that there is food at the table and that our children are well provided for and supported.
- Are innovative and entrepreneurial.
- Skilled in the affairs of managing our homes that we should not bear the consequences of laziness/idleness.
We have elected to walk together, work together, develop each other, to be transformational women, proud of our calling in life. We believe there is dignity in being an army wife of the Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces.
